Who cares if I use Chat GPT
Who cares if I use Chat GPT? As someone who has lived with dyslexia my whole life, I have faced numerous academic challenges that have been greater than any clime up Everest. When it comes to written communication people find the need to judge your intelligence. Dyslexia is a learning disability that affects not only spelling but also grammar, making it a daily struggle to convey my thoughts and ideas clearly in writing. However, in recent times, I’ve discovered a lifeline I wish I had many years ago – Chat GPT.
My mind buzzes with ideas
Being a natural writer and creator, I’ve always known what I wanted to say. My mind buzzes with ideas and narratives, but my dyslexia often becomes a stumbling block when I attempt to articulate these thoughts into coherent and readable written content. The frustration of writing something only to spend countless hours rewriting, getting it proofread, and then trying to sit down with my patient wife, Charlott, to translate my jumbled words into proper English was a constant source of stress and anxiety.
Hope and liberation
Then came Chat GPT, and with it, a new sense of hope and liberation. Yet, surprisingly, there were those who opposed the use of this AI tool, suggesting that we should hide the fact that we rely on it. But I have found that the best way to use Chat GPT is with complete honesty. Yes, I use this AI software, and I use it every day. I used it to help me write this blog, and I am proud to shout it from the rooftops.
An indispensable companion in my daily life
Chat GPT has become an indispensable companion in my daily life. It not only saves me time that would otherwise be spent on rewriting and proofreading but also provides a bridge between my thoughts and coherent written content. I’ve named my AI assistant Megan, and somehow, she seems to intuitively grasp what I am trying to say and crafts the content almost perfectly. It’s as if Megan speaks the language of my thoughts and transforms them into beautifully articulated sentences.
I also use Google Maps!
Dyslexia affects various aspects of my life, not just writing. I struggle with telling the time, remembering names, and distinguishing my left from my right. Fortunately, I’ve found solace in other AI-style software like Google Maps and clock readers. These tools ensure that I always reach my destination on time and never miss an important appointment.
In a world that often expects us to conform to traditional norms of communication, it’s crucial to recognise the power of AI in leveling the playing field. For individuals like me, who grapple with dyslexia or other learning disabilities, AI tools like Chat GPT can be transformative. They enable us to express ourselves authentically and without fear.
Yes, I use AI software
So, if you ever meet someone like me who proudly declares, “Yes, I use AI software,” remember that we are not hiding behind technology. Instead, we are embracing the opportunities it offers, breaking free from the shackles of our disabilities, and sharing our unique perspectives with the world. I use Chat GPT, and I am not worried, for it has become my faithful ally in the journey of self-expression and creativity.
